Outlook 2007 Repeatedly Checks pst File

Hi,

Most times when I open Outlook 2007, it complains that the .pst file was not
closed properly and performs a data check on it. I take special care to
always close Outlook properly prior to shutting down or switching to Sleep
mode. I'm running Vist Ultimate.

Any ideas what may be wrong with it? Is it an Outlook bug or some corruption
with my .pst file, given that it had no problems before when I was running
Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Pro SP2. If it is a .pst file corrpution, would
exporting the file, deleting and re-importing it fix it?

Thanks for any light you can shed on that.

Thanks, Robert. I'll check it out.

One other thing, though. I have my Hotmail account set up on Outlook. It's
always worked flawlessly on previous versions of Outlook. With the
Vista/Outlook 2007 combination, it keeps asking me for my Hotmail id/password
intermittently even when I keep it open. Is that also caused by some add-in?

Thanks

No, actually because of the lack of it ;-) Install the Outlook Connector to
connect to Hotmail accounts.

Thanks, but that brings up a couple of points:

1. I was under the impression that the Outlook Connector is only for Hotmail
accounts created after, I think, Novemeber 2004. My account is over 10 years
old. If I go back and run Outlook 2003 under Windows XP Pro, I don't have
that problem at all.

2. I actually installed the connector on a friend's Vista computer who had a
new Hotmail account, and it created a whole host of problems where Outlook
could not at all connect to Hotmail, failing the id/password check
continuously. Is this the only available solution?

Thanks again,

WJB

With the Outlook Connector you're creating a much more stable connection to
your Hotmail account with a lot more features. I have a very old account as
well but were not able to create a new HTTP connection on a new computer. I
wasn't able to test it fully but it almost appears that there is some sort
of detection for that. I can't tell from here what the issues of your friend
were caused by but I'd still recommend using the Outlook Connector for
yourself.

Ok, I'll give it a try then. Thanks, Robert.
