Outlook 2007 receiving pop3 email

I

ian clark

Hi
I use Sky as my ISP for email, with Outlook configured as my email account.
I receive emails in Outlook via Sky when my computer is switched on and
Outlook is open but any emails to me when the computer is off do not get to
me in Outlook. Have I missed a tick box somewhere that picks up emails when
I first switch on and open Outlook?

Eh? How do you expect Outlook to DOWNLOAD emails when the computer is OFF?
Does your car move when the engine is OFF?

Sorry didn't see the last sentence.

You need to set a polling time. (Strange - Outlook normally sets this by
default)
In Outlook do Ctl-Alt-S and set a time. Do NOT set the time for less than
ten minutes....

You would need to contact Sky as to what your setup requires, sounds
like you don't have them saving your e-mail.

If you have a send/receive interval defined, Outlook will perform an initial
send/receive when you open it. Open Outlook and press Alt+Ctrl+S. Check the
box labeled "Schedule an automatic send/receive every" and enter a value of
"10" in the "minutes" selector.

The polling times were set at 5 mins, have changed them to 15 mins and will
check tomorrow morning to see if email have got through.

I have set my send/receive time to 15 mins. Switched off the computer, left
it a couple of hours. On switching back on there are emails on my Sky
account but not on my Outlook account, need to try something else, any ideas?

It is possible that something else is downloading that POP3 mailbox and
not leaving mail on the server. Your Outlook is setup correctly.

The usual suspects are mobile devices like Blackberry.

When you start Outlook, the Status bar at the bottom to see if it performs a
Send/Receive.

Or other mail scanners, like Mailwasher or some antivirus or -spam programs.

Hi
Yes the Send/receive comes on on, but nothing is ever downloaded from during
the time the computer was switched off. I go and check my emails in Sky and
there are emails that have not come across to Outlook

Do you access that mailbox any other way, like with a handheld, while Outlook
is offline?

No, afraid not. Just Outlook when I switch on the computer. And of course
having to check my Sky email account for the missing Outlook emails.

Do you have any add-ins like antivirus or -spam scanners looking at incoming
mail?
