outlook 2007 only opens in safe mode.

I recently upgraded to Office Enterprise 2007 from 2003. Outlook was fine but
now suddenly it opens competely in safe mode but otherwise it freezes, it
does not even display propely, just a blue background and the splash screen.
Can't understand whtat happened. COuld it be the personal folders file as it
sometimes says this file is being checked.

I'd try a new Profile and start Outlook with that.

thank goodness i found this thread. i'm having the exact same issues, and
they came out of nowhere. diagnostics were ineffective, and while outlook is
stalled at the splash screen it's running my cpu at %15 while using ~4M
memory. another curiosity is that while i can take focus of the frozen splash
screen by clicking it on the taskbar, i cannot by clicking the title bar.
i've tried building a new profile from mail in the control panel, but still
no-go.

any other ideas? thanks.

FIXED

the solution in my case was to completely disable Windows Search. i observed
searchindexer.exe gnoshing thru an incredible amount of my cpu, so i
suspected it may have been the culprit. if you have any unusually hungry
services, check those out. now to figure out why searchindexer was pegging my
cpu out.

Probably indexing. Leave it on overnight.
