Outlook 2007 on 2008 Terminal Server

When connecting to our Exchange 2007 server (running on Windows Server 2003
R2) from this server, Outlook 2007 is glacially slow. Outlook quite
literally goes un-responsive for at least five minutes before re-painting the
application window and giving back control. Any clicks into the Outlook
window will quite commonly make Outlook go unresponsive again. This problem
is repeatable even after rebuilding/reinstalling Server 2008 and Office 2007
several times.

Has anyone else run into this and/or found a fix?

And this is just for 1 connecting user or multiple?
Did you analyze your system's performance already?

This is happening for all users and we did look at performance. Everything
else seems fine. In fact, when you open outlook and it hangs for a minute or
two, then finally connects -- outlook works fine.

It happens just the same when I'm the only user on the server.
We did find something in our testing. We opened up the firewall for port
1159 (I googled that and can't find why outlook would be using it) after some
checking on that sort of thing and things seemed fine for a couple weeks.
Now we're back to the initial problem and I haven't checked back to see what
ports are being accessed when we open outlook as of yet. I posted to see if
anyone else had run into this and if some firewall settings were the fix or
if there was some other setting I needed to configure.

We opened all TCP ports from the new terminal server to our exchange servers
and it seems to help. We tried to narrow it down to one port (1159) and it
was ok for a couple weeks and then broke. I had the security guys open all
TCP ports and the problem has stopped today.

Hi,

I disabled firewall on exchanger server and terminal server, restarted
servers. Nothing has changed. Always slowlest outlook....

Any idea ?

I'm still seeing a slight hang up of outlook when you first open it in
terminal server. Once it "connects" it seems to run OK but initially it
takes a bit of time.

I installed windows 2008 x64 and windows 2008 x32. The problem is the same.
No firewall between TS et exchange server. Windows firewall is disabled on
the 2 servers.

Outlook is very slow all the time. I tried a reboot of TS, reboot of
exchange. I didn't find any error on the logs. I didn't see where is the
problem.
