Outlook 2007 Message Size Increase

I did a comparison of message sizes between Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. I
sent the same one sentence e-mail in Rich Text format using both 2003 and
2007. The message sent from Outlook 2003 was only 895 bytes and the message
sent from Outlook 2007 was 8KB, over eight times as large. I'm concerned the
upgrade to Outlook 2007 is going to take up much more space on our Exchange
server than 2003 did. Is this a valid concern? Why the big difference in
size between the two programs? Is there any way to lower this message size
in 2007?

Thank you for posting.

From your post, I understand the message sends by Outlook 2007 is larger
than the same message sends Outlook 2003. If I'm off base, please feel free
to let me know.

At this time, please let me know:

1. Which method you used to check the message size?
2. Whether the message is sent to external recipient or internal recipient

I have performed a local test on my lab

When I send simple message (Rich Text) by using Outlook 2003 and 2007
separately:

1. The message sent from Outlook 2003 was 3901 (about 4k)
2. The message sent from Outlook 2007 was 8044 (about 8k)

When I send a message (Rick Text) with incline image by using Outlook 2003
and 2007 separately:

1. The message sent from Outlook 2003 was 1939101 (about 2m)
2. The message sent from Outlook 2007 was 1944542 (about 2m)

Note: I use MFCMapi with online mode profile to check the message size
which saved in the Exchange Mailbox Store.

Therefore, I do no think that it is a problem regarding message size in
Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007.
