I read the posting from 7/9/2009 and it helped me understand that Themes in
Outlook 2007 are NOT available if you are using Word 2003. But I wasn't able
to find how to resolve the following:

Message Format is set to HTML, I'm unable to get rid of the message
background IE theme that was setup in Outlook 2003. The background looks
like grid paper. I We upgraded from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007. I did
finally remove it by changing Message Format to Rich text.

Is there anyway to remove the background when using HTML?

Hmm... I don't run a mix n' match of Outlook 2007/Office 2003, but I would
think you should be able to set the Theme to none at Tools > Options >
Message format tab > Stationery and Fonts button > Personal Stationery tab >
Theme button.
