Outlook 2007 Loses IMAP connection (but not in Safe Mode)

If I switch networks or connections (say, from wired to wireless), Outlook
2007 times out on every Send/Receive and sometimes hangs. However, if I run
it in Safe Mode, it appears to work (don't have a lot of data on this yet,
but working right now in Safe Mode), including when I switch from my office
network to my home network.

I have not installed any special plug-ins, just Outlook 2007 as a
stand-alone product. I also have MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote
installed (all 2007) on Windows Vista.

Any ideas what could cause this, or why it appears to work in Safe Mode? How
can I track down what's happening differently in Safe Mode that enables it
to work properly? I assume this is not the intended behavior. Web browsers
and other programs that require an Internet connection don't seem to have
any problem. Only Outlook.

Thanks for any help,
Colin

No, I was wrong. The problem does still occur in Safe Mode.

However, I also noticed that under the File menu, there is an option,
"Connect to SERVERNAME." It is grayed out. It is not grayed out when the
connection is working. Why is grayed out and how can I re-activate it? Note,
I am not set to Work Offline and all other Internet apps work fine (such as
sending this message).

I believe if I can learn how to restore this command, I can restore my
server link and everything will work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Colin
