Outlook 2007 - hangs on SEND

J

jneal

OK
XP and just uninstalled 2003 and installed office 2007 and outlook 2007
Many errors - but the main issue - in Outlook - half of the time when I am
sending email - it either STAYS in the outbox state.....or if I press
send/receive - the display box (shows status) SHAKES - and hangs outlook
(still in SHAKE mode) - I have to go back into outlook every time? Anyone
else having this?

many thanks

jneal,

I am having the exact same problem. This started on Wednesday. I can
receive emails into Outlook but when I type or reply an email it sits in the
outbox then I get an error message that Outlook can not connect to my SMTP
and I need to call my Internet service provider. They in turn have said
because I can send directly from their site it has nothing to do with them.
The computer people say it is the internet provider also, but when I use
outlook 2003 on my other computer I connect just fine to the server,
therefore leads me to believe it has nothing to do with the server that it is
the software. I can't find any on the MS site to update. I even did a
system restore and that didn't fix it. It is very frustrating not to get
this working.

thank you so much....I was ready to slit my wrists or buy a new computer.
Webmail works just fine so we KNOW it is in OUTLOOK. Hangs in SEND and then
has to repait itself every time I go back in.

maybe we will get a resolution since BOTH of us are having this. I just
loaded it last week

jneal,

I looked further into the post online and other people are getting the exact
same error code that I'm getting. This has nothing to do with our internet
server in my opinion this is outlook issue, since we can all send directly
from our host server and I can send from outlook 2003 on my other computer.

I hope we can get a resolution soon. Thank you

I did notice that if I TYPE in an email address (vs pulling it from my
contacts) it seems to work more consistantly....can you try this too?

M

mary

okay. I'll try right now.

I tried it and it didn't work either. I get the same error message either
way. It still hangs up in my outbox.

Sorry, but that's not a valid conclusion.

Could you describe what you mean by "shakes"? If you have an entire window
moving back-and-forth on the screen, I'd suspect video drivers or malware.

when I send email - and then press send/recieve - when the status sending
window comes up - it is shaking......like it is trying to send the same
emails over and over and over. I see the send outlook 'envelope' on the
bottom shaking too. I am not able to cancel it (moves too fast) directly.
WEBmail with same mail works fine. The same email I can reply to from my
iphone and it works fine. It just hangs outlook 2007 Outlook 2003 worked
fine last week before this load.

Does that help?

When I type and click send this is what happens to me. It goes to the outbox
then acts as if is going to send, send/receive comes up in the right hand
corner of the screen, then it says error when I click the error this is what
it says:

"reported error (0x80042109) outlook cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP)
email server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
adminstrator or Internet service provider.

I responded to another email that the person said they were getting the same
error code and when I did the response was maybe you should start your own
thread.

maybe
I think these are all related. New 2007 installations. I have have to
re-enter my email profiles (per one help desk person - from the mail screen)
that helped somewhat

Now I have to type in the actual email address (even if it in my contacts)
and it will work some of the time.

have you re-entered all of your email server settings data yet?

If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable this
integration and try again.

Roady,

Thank you, I deleted my virus scan all together and sent an email and again
it won't leave my outbox, it still gives me the below message.

then acts as if is going to send, send/receive comes up in the right hand
corner of the screen, then it says error when I click the error this is what

adminstrator or Internet service provider.

I hope there is an easy resolution to this.

Do you have a firewall installed? Verify it's not blocking Outlook. Turning
it off (for troubleshooting) is also a possibility.
Does it work when you configure OE for your email?
Additionally try it with a clean mail profile;

I completed deleted all of my security when you asked me to check my virus
protection in the previous note. I deleted and added my email accounts again
last night. What does OE mean?

Thank you, Mary

Do you mean the entire send/receiv status window is shaking, or do you man
the progress bar advances, then retreats again?

Have you tried Help>Office DIagnostics?

Same issue here and not able to identify a fix - added info on issue:
The "Shaking" appears to be the app running in a loop (hitting your email
server over and over) and the perceived shaking is the refresh of the window.
You also noted the same "Shaking" of the download icon in the tray - same
thing; it's being called by the looping app to refresh so fast it appears to
be shaking. Also, there is an icon that looks like two gear wheels in the
lower left corner of the Outlook window stating something like- ".. it's
checking a file with an issue and this may slow down the system.. .". Whether
or not I wait for this check to complete, when I hit send/receive Outlook
goes to all 8 of my accounts (on two separate servers) as per normal -
sending and receiving. However, once it finishes it loops back to the top and
keeps repeating going through all 8 accounts (send and receive) at a rate of
about 10-15 times/second and drawing major CPU usage at the same time. Only a
control/alt/delete will shut the app down and I have to do it two times to
shut the app down. So far this issue has taken up 6+ man-hours and is still
not resolved! All updates have been installed, we’ve tried it w and w/out the
anti-virus and firewalls and are running out of options. Those !-(*&^% Mac
commercials are starting to talk to me here. Anyone w/ a fix or idea please
advise! - Thanks!!
