Outlook 2007 freezes in part open screen

Outlook 2007 has become a problem on my daughter's Vist Home Premium machine
by freezing when being opened and here is the scenario:

1. When opening the full-blue window has a small yellow frame in center
saying "outlook" and in the upper left corner of screen is an approx. 2 inch
toolbar which a mouse pointer has become a spinning blue circle as if to
indicate it is busy.

2. after up to half an hour later there is no change so using 'task
manager' the program is asked to be closed and response by Vista is to say
that outlook is waiting for a response from the operator (paraphrased).

3. close the program by again asking 'task mgr' to end the process.

4. After closing if you try to open Outlook again, a window comes up
noting it had been improperly closed and asks if you want to open in safe
mode and does when told 'yes'.

This is a consistant occurence. We have tried repair and re-install to no
avail.

Any thought is appreciated to end this dilemma.

Thanks, Jim

Thanks for input but the daughter had decided to switch back to XP with her
machine before trying this out. Not much patience with Vista. As she says,
it was always in my face wanting something.

Appreciate it guys.

Of course, that can be turned off.
