Outlook 2007 E-mail Issues

Sharon

I'm running Outlook 2007 on XP and have been having the following issues -
would love to receive assistance in resolving them.

1) E-mails to be sent go into the Outbook and then sit there for an
eternity. Trying to pinpoint who the culprit is I should track down.

2) I had the experience where a message mysteriously sent itself 3x to a
recipient.

3) I repeatly get a message that a "data file did not close properly..."
I've tried doing the repair that Microsoft suggests, however despite these
efforts I still have this problem from time to time.

Thanks for your assistance.

Open Outlook in safe mode to see if behaviour improves:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /safe

Check your Add Ins and COMs. It could be AV integration with Outlook, if AV
is configured to actively scan incoming and outgoing emails you can easily
see this behaviour. Other Add Ins and COMs can have undesirable effects as
well.

Running Outlook in safe mode will diable them so you can see if it runs
properly without them. Once you determine this, open Outlook normally and
disable them all. Then add them back one at a time, testing inbetween. That
way you can figure out if one of them is the culprit and which one it is.

Regarding your AV, it should not be configured to integrate with Outlook.
You can safely disable this feature (or uninstall and reinstall omitting the
Outlook integration) without compromising your security. Your real time
scanner will catch whatever it's been updated for.
