outlook 2007 collects email when closed.

In my previous edition of Outlook, when I left home for the day I would exit
Outlook and be able to collect my email with my Pocket PC from wireless hot
spots and leave my PC running. Now when I close Outlook 2007, either by
File>Exit or by clicking on the 'X' in the corner of the window, Outlook
appears to close but continues to collect my email thus it is not available
to me from wireless access points.

I also have looked at Windows Task Manager and find the following:
Outlook closes out of the running Applications but stays as a running Process.

What to do?

Are you running anything that might be keeping Outlook running as part of
its function? Here Outlook runs for a few minutes after I close its window.

Yes, I suspect Windows Mobile Device Center is lurking somewhere also even
though I have removed my PDA from the cradle and taken it with me. There is
usually an Icon in the System Tray for one of its components although it
seems to have disappeared for now. The Mobile Device Center seems to be just
as flakey as Outlook 2007.
