Outlook 2007 closes when I 'Show Desktop'

Whenver I go to the 'Show Desktop' icon, my Outlook 2007 closes. I have all
the updates and and am running Vista Home Ed (with sevice pack 1 applied).

Suggestions?

Just to be sure, is Outlook.EXE terminating (not visible in the Task List)
or is it simply minimizing to the system tray (notification area / clock
area)?

It terminates

Is an error being shown? If you show the Task Manager does Outlook.EXE
simply drop out of the list or does it close cleanly?

Vince,

Outlook just closes with no error message. if I have a message open, the
message will remain (minimized) but the application closes as soon as I hit
the 'Show Desktop' icon.

If a message stays open that usually means that Outlook.EXE is still
running.

it's not. i check Task Manager and the application is not running. also,
let's forget that I may have an email message open and just try to figure out
why Outlook closes when I go to my Desktop. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I had the same issue, but Outlook was still appearing in the task list.

Go to taskbar near the clock, click the arrow to show all icons, right click
on the Outlook icon, uncheck "hide when minimized".

That has nothing to do with Outlook continuing to run after trying to close
it. That just hides Outlook when you click the Minimize button to the right
of the title bar.

FYI - Same thing here, and with my cubicle neighbor. It just disappears,
although I haven't noticed it happening with the show desktop button.
Several times a week it's just poof, gone, and closes all my open/in progress
messages as well w/o keeping a draft. Nothing running in task mgr, no
errors, no minimized OL icon in the systray. I've got XP pro, fully patched.
I have to reopen and re-enter my passwod into Outlook. Using Exchange. I'm
doing an internet search to see if any one has come up with a solution, or
heck, even a cause would be nice :).

I do see several instances of an OL error in my app event viewer, but a
quick check online from other people says that comes from opening OL and from
a bad patch:
Event ID 35 Failed to determine if the store is in the crawl scope
(error=0x8001010d).
Coupled always with:
Event ID 34 Failed to get the Crawl Scope Manager with error=0x8001010d.

For more info: my Office 2007 is installed from Novell Zenworks using the
application launcher, right now at my work it's a voluntary install so you
have to browse the tree and choose to install. I've tried running a
verify/reinstall and it still happens.

I have a cranky archive file that I guess I'm going to have to give in and
recreate (I've run scanpst and corrected, still hangs on me occasionally) and
here are my add-ins:
MS Exchange Unified Messaging
MS Office Groove Proxy for OL Add-in
MS Office SharePoint Server Colleague Import Add-in
MS OL Mobile Service
MS VBA for Outlook Addin
OneNote Notes about Outlook Items
Windows Search Email Indexer

Inactive app add-ins:
Calendar Gadget for Windows SideShow
MS Access OL Add-in for Data Collection and Publishing

Maybe this can help you troubleshoot your own setup.
