When I select show desktop outlook closes?

When I select either show desktop or minimize Outlook the program closes
completely but I can't figure out why?
 
It doesn't; it minimizes to the Notification Area (where also the time is
being displayed). Double click the icon to restore Outlook. Rightclick it to
see the options and disable it if required.
