outlook 2007 calendar printing - daily and weekly styles ignore fo

Changing the Appointments font size setting in Outlook 2007, for either the
Daily or Weekly calendar view does not work properly.

The default font is 8 pt. Segoe UI.

All other size options show on print preview and paper as 8 pt, other than
if you
choose 72 pt, then it prints what looks like 10 or 12 pt.

If you try a different font, e.g. Arial, then it completely ignores the size
setting, and uses 8 pt.

The Monthly view seems to work fine - I can change both font and size,
without problems.

Our CIO is affected by this, so we are logging a premier support call
through one of our partners, but in the meantime, has anyone seen this before?

Hi Rob,

Yes, the Calendar Printing Assistant for Outlook 2007 provides an easy way to print and customize Outlook 2007 calendar information. It puts
you in control of the tools you need and helps you plan and create designer-quality output.

However, based on my testing, we cannot set font size in the Calendar Printing Assistant for Outlook 2007 which is your main concern.

Emily - how are you!

I am having the same problem. Changing the Appointment font size in daily
does not work. I have tried everything I could see and nothing actually
changes the font size of appointments when trying to print.

Rob:

A little experimentation with the File ... Page Setup ... Daily Style leads
me to believe that the 'largest' Appointment font size is dictated by number
of hours you choose to print for that day.

If you set Print from to 8:00 AM and Print to at 5:00 PM, the largest font
size will be either 14 or 16 point.

If you choose to print Tasks along the side, they will continue to increase
as expected. Try 24 pt for example.

To get the Appointment font size to bump up, set the set Print from to 12:00
PM and Print to at 4:00 PM and leave the Appointment font size at 24 pt. You
will see the larger font size.

Of course, this is worthless information as you would want a full day Daily
Calendar. But that's the best that I can come up with.

Cheers,

Vince

Hi SJMP and Rob,

I am suprised to found that my reply was cut. It should include a workaround to print the appoinments in large font size.

I added the workaround below. Please refer to it and let me know if it address your concerns.
**********************************************
Regarding the issue "changing the font size in the page setup doesn't actually change the font size in Print Preview or Print Out, based on my
research, it is a known issue in Outlook 2007.

It is an improvement feature in Outlook 2007. When you change the font size as a large one such as 16 in Outlook 2003, part of the
appointment information may be invisible in the printout. In Outlook 2007, to prevent it, Outlook 2007 auto scale the font size so that all the
appointment information is visible in the printout. As a result, the font size may still be 8 pt.

To workaround it, I strongly recommend you to decrease the printed appointment period. Thus, it will make more the print area for each
appointment. And then, when you enlarge the font size, it will be enlarged in the printout. Following is the detail steps.
========================
1. In the calendar folder, click File > Print.
2. Choose Daily Style or Weekly Style. Click Print Setup.
3. In the Format tab, in 'print from:', choose 9:00AM. In 'print to:', choose 5:00PM.

Note: I suppose that your appointments are all in this period 9:00AM-5:00PM. If not, you can print the other time period appointments in
another printout. Such as you can print from 5:00PM to 23:00PM again so that you print out all the appointments.

4. Click Font to set the font as you want. For example, set it as "16 pt. Arial".
5. Click Print Preview. What is the result?
*************************************************
Hope the above information is helpful! If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin
