After reading ANY message in Outlook 2007 and the exiting. I get the
following message;
'The file NormalEmail already exists. Do you want to replace the existing
file?' YES NO Cancel.
After clicking cancel or no the following message appears;
'Outlook has insufficient memory. Do you want to save the NormailEmail as a
rescued template? YES NO Cancel.
If i dont read any emails then these error messages do not appear. Is there
a work round for this?

See if renaming NormalEmail to something else then restarting Outlook helps.
You'll find it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
Do you have any add-ins installed that might be modifying the template?

Hi BillR,
Thanks for the quick response.
I checked in the location you showed and found the Normalemail icon with an
exclamation mark on it. I renamed it to NormalEmail1, then restarted Outlook.
I sent myself a test message and opened it. After closing it I did not get
the error message as before. I then rechecked the original location and found
a new NormalEmail icon also with an exclamation mark on it. I do not think
there are any add-ins that could cause any trouble. I would be pleased to
list them if that may help. The only one I am not sure about is this one
'azwrd10.dot'.

Has this solved the issue?
The idea in renaming that file and restarting was that a new and hopefully
clean one would be created.

I'm afraid this has not solved the problem. it only happens after I have read
new messages not old ones. I also note that when I installed Office 2007
(beta), although it was supposed to uninstall Office 2003, that still appears
in 'add & remove programs'!

Did you choose "upgrade"? Something is writing to that file. I'm not sure
what.

I originally updated to 2007 but then I had this problem so I uninstalled the
beta and went back to 2003. I then found I had a MAPI.dll problem which was
due to the beta overwriting the original dll so. I followed the instructions
from the FAQ site and renamed MAPI.dll to old and used Fixmapi but nothing
happened. I could not then use outlook so it was either a case of uninstal
and re-install office 2003 or re-install 2007 which I did and a also did a
complete install. It told me it was uninstalling office 2003 during the
install process. So thats where I am today.

Would it be a good idea to uninstall both 2003 (which is still showing in
Add+remove although it was supposed to be uninstalled when I installed office
2007 beta), and then re-install office 2007 beta?

I have uninstalled both versions of Office and re-installed Office 2007 to no
avail. I still get the error message!

Try deleting *mapi32*.dll and then run detect and repair. So try
deleting mapi32.dll directly and also msmapi32.dll (all files that have
mapi32 in them and have the extension dll). They should be in your
Windows\System32 folder.
After that run detect and repair of Office 2003 or office diagnostics of
2007.

Thanks for your help Patrick, Unfortunately ther are a lot of mapi32.dll's
both in system folder and others including 1033 etc. I did a serach but could
not find msmapi32.dll. I think the problem is to do withword 2007. Both the
normal word template and normalemail templates have an exclamtion mark on
them despite a virgin install, if I rename them the newly generated template
also has that exclamation mark on it. I cannot see any way of stopping word
from being the program to edit emails. I do not have the same initial
problems if I use outlook express.

Wait...you can't stop Word from being the program to edit emails? Does
that mean Outlook 2003 is actually running?
The mapi.dll issue should generally not even let you open Outlook.
I am confused as to what the current state on your computer is. Sorry.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for you quick response. If you read this thread from the begining it
may the problem a little clearer(no insult intended).
I STILL get the original apparent error messages.
When I first installed Office 2007, I did so as an upgrade.
Following on from info received in this group I decided to uninstall office
2003 and install office 2007 as a stand alone install.
I had no problems doing this, however I noticed that both the Word 'normal'
template and the outlook 'normalemail' templates had an exclamation mark on
them as they did under the original install.
All programs work fine. I can send new emails with out a problem, the error
occurs only when reading email new or old. I tried the rename mapi32.ddl and
using fim-mapi to no avail. I have tried your suggestion of deleting thjose
files but it wont allow me, denies access, will also not allow me to rename
them. There is no office 2003 on the machine.
I am stumped, only hope when full retail version is available I am able to
instal and use it with no problems!!

Dave

Hi Dave,

I'll blame Outlook for not reading the full thread ;) I actually use the
Unread Mail folder in 2007 to read these newsgroups because 2007 has
major performance issues with folders that have lots of messages (and
believe me the folders for these newsgroups do). I use newshound to get
the newsgroup messages into Outlook in the first place.
Where is the exclamation mark? In the file icon?
Now I understand your Word question...Outlook uses natively Word as
email editor and there is no way to change this. Actually, it is not
really using Word, but a slimmed-down version packaged in a special DLL
just for Outlook.
So you are on 2007 when you get this error message.
Have you deleted the two templates before (or rather renamed them to
something else while Word and Outlook were closed)? What happened?

You could try: Remove 2007 and if there are any traces left of 2003,
remove it as well. Reboot. See if you have a Mail icon in Control Panel.
If you do, some MAPI program must still be left on your computer. Any
idea what that could be?
Try deleting the files. If it doesn't work, boot Windows in safe mode.
Rename them or move them somewhere safe (instead of deleting). I think
the ones in System32 are sufficient. Just to be sure, rename the whole
Microsoft Office folder in Program files (if it still exists) as well.
Reboot Windows normally and reinstall 2007. Create a new mail profile
and add your accounts and data files to it.
That should give you a clean install with no problems...

Hi Patrick,
No problem. I will have a look at what you suggest. After I uninstalled
office 2003 there were some templates left which I deleted. As far as I can
tell there is nothing remaining of Office 2003 on the machine. The
exclamation marks are 'on' both template icons.
I am beginning to feel that the only way around this will be to 'restore'
the machine (which I do at least once year) f-disking etc, at least if I do
that I will be installing onto a virgin machine. Will take a few days though.

Dave

Since writing the response below two things have happened.
1, Downloaded latest automatic updates from microsoft and re-installed I.E.7
beta.
2, Problem that I have been having with Outlook have now ceased.
I have not had to restored my PC!
weird or what!
