Outlook 2007 _ Error

I know I'm not the only person having this issue. I've seached through the
posts and have yet to come up with the exact same issue -

After the latest 2007 update, my Outlook now gives me the error

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The
set of folders cannot be opened. The file C:\Documents and
Settings\(myname)\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file.

I run the Scanpst.exe file and can't locate the .pst file. The only file
that I have in the designated location is a .nk2 file. Did my .pst file get
erased?

How can I get this corrected? what are my options? The data is very
important and as luck would have it .. today was the day I was going to back
up my files.

Thanks!

Your not able to locate the file because some folders are hidden so goto
folder options in the control panel and click the view tab and look for a
option called "show hidden files and folder" check this option. Also look
for another option called "Hide extension for known fike types" now uncheck
this option and browse back to te same location. FYI C:\Documents and
Settings\(myname)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ look
in this folder now you'll find *.pst file

Hope this helps you.
