Outlook 2003

My system tray constantly displays the icon and message that Outlook is
synchronizing folders. I do not connect to an exchange server, and this
prevents my laptop from sending and receiving e-mails. How do I disable the
synchronization feature?

Currently, just one. It's thru Verizon's POP3 server. Everything worked fine
for the first week or so. Then, a few days after I imported my .pst folders
(Calendar and Contacts) from Outlook 2002 on my desktop, it started
synchronizing and the only way to stop it is to shut it down and restart.
Then, I can usually send/receive once before it starts synchronizing again.
