Outlook 2003 will not send

T

Tony Schmitz

Just installed a new computer for the boss.
It has Wxp pro.
And Office XP (pro/premium)

We got the "outlook.pst" file from his previous computer
and imported all his contact/e-mail info. All of that
went fine.

The Outlook 2003 has been configured correctly, but will
not send outgoing e-mail.
It will receive e-mail "pop3" but will not send.

I have confirmed this is a problem with outlook 2003. I
installed another e-mail client program as a test and it
will send and recieve with exactly the same settings.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thank you

Microsoft does it again :(

Outlook 2003 apparently does not produce its own message
id headers (according to this article) (see link)
like all the other mail clients. So, the spam filter for
our company saw it as SPAM.

No one from Microsoft responded on this page.
Should have been able to find something in their
knowledge base, but no.
I called Microsoft for help with a Microsoft product.
They said they couldn't help. I would have to call Dell
for support.

Before calling Dell I did some more research with google
and came up with this article, no thanks to MS.
(e-mail address removed)/msg26825.html"

I am wondering why we pay this much for software and get
no support. Maybe opensource is the way to go, I mean if
your going to have spend your own time to find fixes and
(work arounds...,in this case) Opensource is clearly a
better way to go. Things like this are making it more and
more attractive.

I am just putting this out there for the other people who
have found they can't send mail with this "wonderful"
product.
