Outlook 2003 sends email I don't see

Most times I send/rcv emails, Outlook says it is sending an email, but I
can't see it or any record of it in my sent box. Is there any way to see what
is being sent out, or stop it ?

These are usually read receipts. Disable the sending of receipts and this
should stop.
