Outlook 2003 - send message immediately

Hans Pesata

Hi!

I am looking for a setting within Outlook 2003, which enables the
possibility
to immediately send a message after it has been created and placed within
the outbox.
there a setting like this in Outlook Express.

that means that probably a dial-up-networking connection has to be
established before.

the only thing I found are the settings within

tools -> options -> send/receive

but it is only possible to select an intervall within there.

any help with this would be greatly appreciated,
thanx in advance!

best regards
Hans

"Send immediately when connected" seems to work pretty well. It's on your
Mail setup Tab in Tools > Options...

thanx for your reply!

but in this case you already have to have a connection, there is no dial-up
involved...

There are plenty of workarounds. You did not provide your mail account type
or connection type so I cannot provide them. You should also clarify the
precise behavior you want Outlook to perform for mail polling.

I am using Outlook 2003 with a POP3 mail account,
the internet connection is a dial-up connection via an ADSL-line.

I would like to use the same feature as in Outlook Express:
after I created a new message and clicked "Send", the message should be sent
immediately
without having to wait for the next send/receive intervall to occur and
without clicking "Send/Receive".

thanx in advance!

Hans

Hi!
Setting your connection type to LAN should do that.

but in this case no dial-up-connection will be established
which certainly is needed to connect to the POP3-server.

If you set your connection type to LAN, as Russ suggested, no "dial-up" will
be necessary.

Sure it will. Outlook dials up automatically if it can't find a LAN. You can
even specify which dial up is used in the Connection Tab for your mail
account.

thanx for explaining and providing this workaround!

I will check it out ASAP.
