Outlook 2003 - Location of PST files on hard disk

Guest

I have recently installed a new hard drive on my laptop. All Outlook files
were stored in a directory under My Docs. I have however noted recently that
these files are not updated, but Outlook created new files under the "Local
settings" (hidden area) of my laptop. I did nothing to effect this change.
I am too scared to delete the PST files under "my docs", although the dates
are older than those under the "Local settings" part of the directory. Any
help on why this has happened, and will it be safe to delete the older files,
and just keep the files under "local settings"?
Thanks - Albert

When you installed the new hd & configured / installed OL it created a new
data file in the default location.
The data files under My Documents are your old data files

You have a number of choices
1) Delete old data files and thus *lose all old data*
2) Within OL open the old data files, if you wish to simply have access to
the data (File>Open>Data File.....browse to location)
3) Open the old data files and copy data from one to the other
3a) if you wish to keep My Documents data files as the default, copy new
data to this file and then set it as the default store, close 'new' data
file once done.
