Outlook 2003 install issues - Outlook hangs on exit

R

Ross

I installed Office 2003, as an upgrade to Office XP last
evening, and everything seemed to go well, until I started
Outlook up. I have two issues.

1. Old mail box does not seem to have been converted, not
sure if that is expected or not. Only messages from
Microsoft about the new Outlook are in the inbox. Outlook
XP mailbox and archive folders are not evident. I have
found the PST files, but have not tried to get Outlook
2003 to load them yet.

2. Outlook 2003 hangs on exit, icon stays in the lower
right of the task bar. Also, IE hangs if started after
Outlook 2003 closes. IE works fine if started prior to
Outlook closing. Both Outlook and IE have to be
terminated manually prior to shutdown. Generated a few
error reports for MS in the process of trying to figure
out what is going on. I do have Symantec Internet
Security 2004 loaded...

Ideas?

Thanks,

Ross

My OL2003 doesn't hang at exit, but the icon remains in my system tray
as well and is essentially non-functioning. If, after OL is closed, I
right click on that icon and select "Open Outlook", I receive an error
message stating "Outlook is not responding, blah, blah,...". If I
restart my computer, the fact the OL process is still running
(confirmed in Task Manager) even though I have closed the program,
does not seem to impact the computer shutdown routine.

Additionally, when I open OL2003, the automatic "Send/Receive" option
does not work. I must manually select and from there, the "check
every X minutes" works fine.

I installed Office 2003 over Office XP as well.
