Outlook 2003 inbox very large and word freezing

B

Bob Perini

I have a user that is having issues with her computer while using word and
having email open and it keeps freezing up-this is a brand new computer-I
have already tried a reinstall of office.(which is known to be working
installation and is from a network)

The user has a very large email file in outlook-set to a pop server-around
2gig total, around 1gig in the personal folders(and insane inbox) and around
1 gig in an archive file. In anyone's experience have you had word freeze up
a large number of times if someone has outlook open at the same time as
word?

If so what is the ideal inbox size within outlook 2003?

Ensure that the pst is a unicode (2003 format) pst
There is no ideal size for a OL2003 pst, though IMO a large pst can become
data overload, from a view prosective. I prefere to Archive.
I would check Event Logs for a clue, and maybe run a word repair, and or
delete normal.dot
