My outlook doesn't always show all the images that are in some of my emails. I
will then look at someone else's inbox who also received the same email, then
I can see the images. It is mostly only images called "image001.gif" that
have
been attached. When i dubble click to open, I get a messege saying "Cannot
create file: image001.gif. Right click the folder you want to create the file
in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions
for the folder." I dont even want to create the file. Just open it.

I can open all the other images, even image001.jpg This started a while ago
but i alway thought it will just come right... but guess what.

I also received emails that has no pictures attached, but has the picture in
them. I can see some of the images, but not all. About 1 or 2 are normally
missing!

The setting for automatic download of images are set correctly. I just dont
know if I need to set anything at my security settings.

Pls help!!! I need it!!

Opening an attachment must write it to disk first, so you are creating a
file. The problem is that the folder in which Outlook is attempting to
create the file is full. See this to correct the problem:

So? When you open an attachment in Outlook, Outlook creates the file in the
Outlook Secure Temp Folder. Sometimes, Outlook fails to empty that folder.
Thus, the next time you attempt to open an attachment of the same name,
Outlook creates a second file of that name in that folder, appending (1),
(2), and so on, as is normal in Windows NT-based systems. Windows has a
limit on the number of copies of that nature that it can create and when you
reach the limit of that name, the error you see will appear.

You can see what is in your Outlook Secure Temp Folder by clicking
Start>Run, entering
"%temp%" (without the quotes) into the Open field, then clicking OK. Enable
the Folder view in the left pane, if it isn't already, and look for
"Temporary Internet Files" just below the blus, selected Temp folder. Click
the Plus sign to its left to expand it and you should see a subfolder there
whose name starts with OLK. Click that folder and you'll see its contents.
I'll bet it's full of files, many named "image001.gif", "image001(2).gif",
"image001(3).gif", and so on.

I have the same problem as Tazzy: Pictures don't always show up in emails.
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I had the problem with Office 97 and
now with Office 2003. I tried cleaning out the OLK folder. It worked one
time. Now I'm back to where I was before. Restarting Outlook didn't help. Any
other ideas?

Brian Tillman's suggestion to use
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/securetemp.htm was the best thing that has
happened to me today. My wife likes to email pictures taken from her iPhone
to our Outlook email address. Recently it became impossible to open them (I
would get the message that Tazzy referenced). The iPhone pictures are all
sent with the file name photo.jpg and they were clogging up the Temp file as
Brian suggested. The above URL has a free program "OutlookTempCleaner" that
finds and cleans the Temp folder. I was so happy with the results that I made
a donation to the program creator.
