Outlook 2003 Hangs on exiting

I think there is someone else who have asked this, but I couldn't find
that.

When we exit outlook 2003 on a windows XP machine (both dutch
versions) Outlook hangs and there is only a Icon on the taskbar.
We only can restart outlook by killing the process first.
When we click on the icon we got the following message:

Outlook is not responding. If you are using an Exhange Server email
account, you can cancel pending server requests by clicking the
Outlook icon in the notifications area, and then clicking Cancel
Server request on the shortcut menu.

We reinstalled the machine, and the problem was away, but after a few
days it comes back
There is no fax or spam software on the PC.
We use Mcafee Virus defence 7.1

Does anyone knows the solution??

Kind regards,

Laurens Bol

This was one of the questions/issue that came up repeatedly at the TechEd
session for Outlook 2003/Exchange 2003. Though there was not a definitive
answer provided and Microsoft personnel indicated they are going to look
further into the probem - some suggestions were as follows.

1) Turn off cache mode especially if the person is using roaming profile
(using Outlook on various systems)
2) check Microsoft Office is up-to-date
3) Remove and reinstall office
4) Recreate the Outlook profile.

Thanx Francine for your reply,

- We are using roaming profiles, and the cache mode is off.
- All windows en Office updates are installed.
- Office is reinstalled. (We have reinstalled the whole pc).
- we recreated the outlook profile.

The only strange thing on the computer is that we have also installed
access 97. Uninstalling doesn't help.

Kind regards,

Laurens
