Outlook 2003 Giving "Recovery Mode" Error at Startup

Good Afternoon,

I have a client running WinSvr2k3Std with Exch2k3Std. We recently upgraded
this to new harder and successfully migrated everything over.

However, when attempting to connect the workstations, Outlook 2003 gives
users a "Outlook is in Recovery Mode" error and asks to choose continue,
offline or cancel. When the user selects continue, everything seems to be
fine.

I cannot find anything understandable in Technet describing this or the fix.
Can someone tell me what recovery mode is and how to get rid of the popup?

This error means Outlook detected differences between the cached copy of
your mailbox stored on your local computer and the copy that is stored on
the Exchange server. Start Outlook in online mode then, quit Outlook and
re-enable cached mode.

Hey Diane,

Thats just what I needed to know. I think I did that on a couple of
machines at first but then the error didnt popup for other users right away.
I assume from you reponse that your solution meant:

1) Open Outlook in Online Mode from the Recovery Error Window
2) Go to Accounts->MSE->and uncheck Cached Exchange Mode.
3) Close Outlook, reopen Outlook and re-enable Cached Exchange Mode.

Am I correct? There looked to be a step missing in your response and I
wanted to be sure. Thanks again!

Correct, turn off cached mode in the acct settings and restart outlook, then
reenable cached mode.
