outlook 2003 earthlink e-mail

When setting up the outlook 2003 account via earthlink, the test message
would not send. All settings, POP3, SMTP were correct and tested so. Any
ideas?

Did you get an error message?

Does the outgoing mail server require authentication at Earthlink? If so,
have you configured Outlook that way?
