outlook 2003 does remove messages from server

Hi

I am have a issue with outlook 2003 that when there are a
large number of message ( >200) in a pop3 users mailbox
the messages are download from the server but not removed
and then the next time the user does a send/receive the
all of the messages are downloaded again

The only way we have been able to resolve this is by
connecting with a older version of outlook and removing
the messages from the server and then the outlook 2003
client functions normal until it needs to download a large
number off messages again

thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

I am having the same problem but with Hotmail account. I
want to manage my e-mail via Outlook 2003 but don't want
to have to change my e-mail name. I am having to go into
Hotmail via the web and 'clear down' old messages to
allow me more space! very infuriating. I don't understand
why i can't 'download' my messages to my machine and then
hotmail automatically delete them!

did you have any joy with your problem? as i am hoping
this will help me

Under the advance options in the internet e-mail settings make sure the "leave a copy on the server is unchecked".
