Outlook 2003 data exchange with ACT 2005

Loaded SQL based ACT 7.0 2005 and did dual data exchange with Outlook 2003
utilizing ACT. Outlook data is gone. ACT has calendar info. Outlook
contacts are gone. ACT did not import them as the sync was only to affect
calendar.

Have backups but want to share information between programs. Clues?

New to ACT 7.0 as this is first version with SQL DB. Is very demanding on
resources. PC is a P4 at 3 Ghz w/1GB DIMM RAM and 80GB Hard. System is
loaded heavy with popular business apps, no games, typical utilities and
highly regarded freeware such as Spybot and Ad-Aware.

I am just curious. Did you do this using the ACT toolset. If so, how did
you do the sync? Did you use the update Outlook activites tool under the
Tools menu in ACT?

TimmyB,
In ACT 7.0 2005, I went to Tools, Outlook Activities, Update Activities, set
Update as two-way, ACT wins, Dates "all" and the calendar from Outlook copied
to ACT but when I opened Outlook, the calendar info was gone, as well as all
my contacts which are nowhere to be found. Any suggestions? Thanks. -Murf

As a long time Act user, I have to say that I am extremely disappointed with
the latest version. Bulky, slow and a resources hog. I have found several
features that no longer work as they have in the past.

As to your issue, here is what I would do. When I do the sync, I go one
way, Act to Outlook. Have not had a problem. In my situation, there really
isn't anything I need from Outlook to go into Act. With a two way sync, you
allowed the software to decide what to keep and what to discard. With the
other flakiness I've seen in this version, I don't trust it. I have been
using the one way sync on a daily basis and haven't lost anything yet.
(Well, at least that I know of anyway.)

My Outlook calendar is available to other users who can schedule their
meetings with me around my schedule, but I like the way I can keep individual
records in Act. Which is why I sync my Act to Outlook.

Hope this helps.
