Cannot import from ACT! 2006/8.0

The data conversion tool doesn't list ACT! 2006/8.0 in the choices -
it only goes up to ACT! 2005/7.0. (I do have SP1 for Outlook.) If I
try to choose ACT! 2005/7.0, it gives me an error message saying that
the "specified file is not a valid database for the currently
installed version of ACT (2005)."

I even tried to create a new database in ACT! and then import the data
from the other ACT! database into the new one - and then tried
importing the new one into BCM, but that didnt work. Should ACT!
2006/8.0 be an option in the data conversion tool? I can't figure out
why it's not listed.

I am doing this for a couple of co-workers - I am not very familiar
with ACT! and just recently started using BCM, so forgive my ignorance
if this is a simple solution. I have tried searching online and in
this group to no avail.

Thank you for any insight you can provide!

Have you installed BCM SP1 (not to be confused with Outlook/Office
2007 SP1.

Thank you! That did fix my first problem. I now see the correct
version of ACT! in the list. However, I think that was just a symptom
of my bigger problem:

The initial error message I was getting said: "specified file is not a
valid database for the currently installed version of ACT (2005)."
which makes me think that BCM THINKS I am using ACT! 2005 and not ACT!
2006/8.0.

When I installed the BCM SP1, I now see ACT! 2006/8.0 as an option,
but when I choose it, it now says: "The version of ACT! that matches
the file you are trying to import must be installed. Please install
the correct version of ACT! and try again." which again makes me think
that BCM doesn't see that I AM actually using ACT! 2006/8.0. I even
put the install disk in again and did a repair. I have not
uninstalled and re-installed yet, however. Should I try that? I can't
understand why BCM doesn't recognize the correct version of ACT! that
I am using.

ACT must be installed on the same PC as BCM for the conversion.

ACT changes with every release. Some times the changes are minor, and
a BCM import module for an older version of ACT can still extract data
from ACT. It sounds like the changes between ACT 7 and 8 were
significant enough to keep the the 7 import module from working with 8
databases.
