outlook 2003 converting HTML to plain text...

Hi,
I have a machine where the HTML messages gets converted to plain text
automagically. The problem is that the user is receiving HTML messages on
purpose. I checked all the options and I found nothing that could fix his
issue. Also Google didn't help much. That's why i'm turning on to you guys.

Note that using OWA the messages are shown correctly, they get converted
only when transfered to the user's Outlook. The user is configured with a
POP3/SMTP setup.

Someone has an idea of the possible cause of this behavior?

If the messages are in the Junk E-mail folder, there's no way to disable
that. If they're in the Inbox, then click Tools>Options>Email Options and
uncheck the box labeled "Read all standard mail in plain text".

Hi,
Thanks for the input but I tried that and still no go. Yes the messages
ends in the inbox.

Any other ideas?

How do you know the messages are HTML in the first place? OWA shows
everything as though it were formatted as HTML because it is an HTML
interface to the Exchange server. Do you see multiple fonts and colors in
one message, for example, in OWA but not in Outlook?

Hi,
i can tell for sure that's HTML because I wrote it for testing purpose.
I just copied an excel grid and pasted it in the HTML message (that was what
the guy tried to send in the first place). I've been able to send it to
another user with the same version/setup of outlook and it shows correctly,
the same in OWA for both users. But this particular user can't seem to
receive HTML messages as they get converted automatically to plain text,
even if no configuration in outlook says to do it (unless I'm missing
something obvious).

Thanks

The only other thing I can think of is that the contact record for the
person receiving Plain Text has that format specified for his Internet
Format in the contact receord itself. If this person is a contact, open
that record and double-click the E-mail address. Examine the "Internet
Format" drop-down at the bottom.

It's not a contact created by the user, its coming for the GAL. I can't find
what you're speaking about... I don't have the Internet format when I go in
the properties of the object.
The only thing i ust remembered i can try is to force the setting to the
POP3 protocol seetings for the user.
Normally its the "use default protol settings" that is checked but for now I
changed it to MIME and HTML body... We'll see..

Thanks

And you won't if it's in the GAL. I could find no mention of Exchange in
your prior messages, so I was taking a chance you weren't using Exchange.
