Hi I have a strange problem.... my emails settings are all set to receive HTML emails, however I occasionally have them arrive in plain text format?? I can be emailing back and forth with a friend - and suddenly on the 5th or 6th email - it will arrive in plain text format. I can convert my reply to HTML - but it will always come back in plain text after that unless i start a new chain. HELP ME! It's so frustrating!!

Hi Lara,

Your problem is slightly different than a few others (myself included)
in that we are having something happen like this with emails from
companies sending newsletter type emails (not personal ones with
friends)...they used to come in HTML but then suddenly started coming
in plain text (but if checked on a different computer running a
different version of Outlook/OS they are still fine...hence it is not
a sender problem but a computer specific problem). So I don't know if
what I am about to suggest looking at will work but I noticed that you
wrote this 3 days ago and haven't received a reply yet...

What version of Outlook and OS are you using?
What antivirus program are you using?

I ran across a known issue with AVG free that causes my problem that
says if you have it checked to Certify Email that it will sometimes
create a problem like that. I just found this last night so am
waiting for the newsletter emails to come (usually a weekly thing so I
don't have to wait too long to check it) to verify if this will fix
the problem. But that is what I would suggest for you too...to look
at your antivirus email scanning as a culprit.

The newsgroup email address with the problem came today and all is
back to normal and the only thing I changed was to uncheck "Certify
Email". A very easy fix once I knew what to look for.

Cindy,

Thank you so much! This issue has been bugging me for a month. I can't
wait to get these emails normally again. Thanks for doing the leg work!
