Outlook 2003 contains 2 inboxes running in Cached Exchange Mode

We are running Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003 across our organization, and we
are experiencing the following issue with three users (all running Outlook
2003 SP2). Outlook is running in Cached Exchange Mode and began displaying a
second inbox beneath the Mailbox - Joe, Smith. Email was delivered to both
inboxes. Eventually, the second inbox disappeared from the folder list,
however, if we right clicked the Mailbox - Joe, Smith and selected Properties
for Mailbox - Joe, Smith and clicked the Folder Size button, we saw two
Inboxes with 150000kb and 151480kb as the sizes of the two Inbox folders.
Email delivery was also slow and seemed to arrive in bulk periodically. We
attempted to disable offline folders and turn off Cached Exchange Mode. This
did not resolve the issue and we were not able to view the contacts or
calendar items - the contacts and calendar folders did not contain any data.
Subsequent attempts resulted in Outlook crashing immediately after opening
Outlook and eventually we uninstalled and reinstalled Office on one of the
affected PCs. The reinstall did not resolve the issue. Next step, we set up
a new PC with the same user's email and we experience the same problem. I've
searched Microsoft's KnowlegeBase and I haven't found anything about this
issue. Could you help?

Thank you

Does looking at the Calendar and Contacts folder in OWA show all the items?

Hello customer,

Based on my knowledge, I suggest that we use the following steps to narrow
down this issue the issue:

Step 1: Check the delivery location
----------------------------------
1. Go to Control Panel and double click Mail.
2. Click the Delivery tab and choose the user''s mailbox (not local PST
files) in the "Deliver new mail to the following location" drop-down menu.
3. Click OK and restart Outlook to check the result.

Does the issue disappear now? If not, please go to next step.

Step 2: Start Outlook with switch /ResetFolders
----------------------------------
We use the /ResetFolders switch to restore folders for the default delivery
location

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type "Outlook.exe /ResetFolders" (without the quotation
mark and there is a space in front of "/")

Step 3: Start Outlook Cleanviews Mode
----------------------------------
We use the /cleanviews switch to restore the default views and to check if
the issue is caused by a corrupt view. Some of your custom views may also
be removed. You may have to re-create some of your custom views after you
perform this procedure.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type "Outlook.exe /Cleanviews" (without the quotation
mark and there is a space in front of "/")

Hope this helps.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information for
further assistance:

1. Capture two screen shots of showing the duplicate Inbox and the scenario
of "selected Properties for Mailbox - Joe, Smith and clicked the Folder
Size button, we saw two Inboxes with 150000kb and 151480kb as the sizes of
the two Inbox folders". You can attach the screenshot to your reply or
directly send them to (e-mail address removed).

2. Access the user's mailbox via OWA and test the issue again.

Hope this helps!

Ada Pan
