Outlook 2003 - Can it send personalised mail with attachments (OL 2000 cannot do this)

Hi All,

We are currently on Office 2000 Pro, and are looking at whether to
upgrade to 2003.

Whilst there are many considerations, one point raised was the
inability of OL2000 to send a personalised newsletter with an
attachment.

*Background*

We send our newsletters by email, in PDF format as an attachment,
along with a link to our website which also has a copy on it as part
of the covering email body.

As far as we have been able to ascertain, without using VBA, OL2000
can do a personalised newsletter (Dear XXXX where XXXX is a mail merge
field from Word and changes for each email), but it cannot do that
*and* attach a file at the same time.

We therefore wondered whether OL2003 is now able to do that?

Thanks,

Alan.

pdfMachine by Broadgun Software has a Word mail merge integration
feature that lets you do mail merge runs where the resulting PDF's
are emailed as attachments via Outlook. It works with Word 2000
onwards.

The url is

Thanks Craig,

However, I don't really want to get into that - I'm sure I could code
it in VBA myself for free if I wanted by looping through a list of
contacts, creating the message body with their name etc, and attaching
the PDF file - using Redemption I guess.

Do you know whether OL2003 can do it without any external 'help'
though?

Thanks,

Alan.

No version of Office can send attachments in a mail merge out of the box.
