Can't send mail using contacts after migrating off Exchange 2000

Q

QAWit

After exporting mail, contacts and calander prior to migrating off an exchange
2000 server, I cannot send mail using the imported contacts now using POP3. I
will say that the contacts were originally created with Outlook 2000 on the
exchange server. At some time we upgraded to Outlook 2003. It appears that if
you choose a contact from the imported file it cuts of the domain from the
recipients email address, it remains in the outbox and you get a send recieve
error. ie. instead of (e-mail address removed) you just get XXXX. If you type the
contacts email address without using the imported contact. The mail is sent
without issue. Is there a compatability issue between Outlook 2000 and 2003.

No compatibility issue but countless ways to corrupt your data when you use
export and import. You posted no information that would tell us what you did
wrong nor why you "cannot send mail using the imported contacts."
Try using a reliable method to transfer your data: copy the contacts into a
PST file. Open the PST file in the other installation.

Found the problem, when I exported the contacts to a .pst from exchange it
exports the path to the exchange information store mailbox for the email
address as
/o=storename/ou=FirstAdministrativeGroup/on=Reciepients/cn=mailboxname
instead of the email address alone (e-mail address removed). I simply rexported it as a
..csv, changed the info in the email address column and re-imported the
contacts. Works like a charm now. Thanks anyway.

Indeed. Next time use a reliable method for data transfer.
