Outlook 2003 Auto Dial ?

F

Fred Bloggs

Hi

I have just upgraded to Outlook 2003 from 2000

On my laptop which uses dialup i used to click send and recieve and it would
automaticaly dial up and check the post without me clicking anything else

Now in Outlook 2003 it stops at the connect box and asks me to
connect/dial... how to I automate this to like it was in Outlook 2000 with
auto connect

Thanks

Not an Outlook setting. This is an OS setting.
Make sure the dial up connection you set up for Outlook to use does not have
"prompt to connect" enabled.

I did that and it still requested for a connection

is this the only setting ?

It's the only one I know of.
Are you certain that you are selecting the correct dial up connection in the
properties of your mail account?
Does it fail to dial up for both manual and automatic polling?
Have you tried setting your connection type to LAN?

Let me now what you find.
In Outlook 2003, some of the automatic dialing functions were handed off to
IE's dialer and some of the settings were never optimized. Too few of us use
dial up any more to troubleshoot it.
