Outlook 2003 and Hotmail account sync. problem..

Hi !

I'm using an Hotmail account that can still be accessed from
outlook/outlook express.

In Outlook 2003, I experience an intermittent (but frequent) problem
with that account : when Outlook performs its "send/receive" task, a
windows asking to confirm the Hotmail account password pops, with only
the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons as valid choices.

Clicking on the "Ok" button clears the window, but it reappears after a
1 second delay. Clicking on the "Cancel" button clears the window
(with a "0x800CCC32" error message) but just until the next
"send/receive" operation.

In both cases, the "send/receive" operation is stuck, doesn't work for
my pop accounts. , and stays there until I click on the cancel button.

I found that the only way to make the Hotmail account (as well as the
other accounts) sync. operation work correctly again is to shut down
Outlook and restart it again.. But shortly but surely (in the next
24 hours), the same thing will happen again.

I must specify that the correct Hotmail account password is recorded in
my password list

Is this a known problem ? Any workarounds availiable ? Any solution
? Any suggestion ?

Thanks...

Either is fine, but unless you're going to multipost, just pick one. Don't
crosspost.

It doesn't surprise me that you may be having trouble with a Hotmail
account, if it's one of the free ones. MSN is eliminating Outlook/Outlook
Express access to free Hotmail accounts.

I did notice over the weekend that MSN was having occasional trouble with
their Hotmail servers.

I meant to say, crossport, but don't multipost.

Understood.. That's what I intended to do, but my news client just
didn't agree at that particular moment.. :/

The same problem occurs for subscribed accounts as well..

I did notice over the weekend that MSN was having occasional trouble with
their Hotmail servers.

I intermittently experience this problem for over a month now, that is
since I added the account to my Outlook profile.

This problem also shows in Outlook Express, but when it happens, the
program continues normally (after putting a yellow exclamation mark on
the status bar) instead of dumbly sit on a modal error message until
the user click on a button (or restart the program, as I described
earlier).

I can untderstand that the Hotmail servers may experience occasional
problems, but I can't figure why the "free" outlook express should
handle this better than it's big brother..
