access Hotmail via Outlook 2003

Hello:

I'm at my wits end: I've tried everything I can think of but I can't get
Outlook 2003 to access Hotmail on my laptop. It used to, but stopped
sometime ago. I have Hotmail as one of the email accounts in my Outlook .pst
however it will not save the password or access the server. When Outlook
opens it accesses the servers for the email accounts (I have four, including
Hotmail, that it checks) and the window pops up headed "Internet email -
Hotmail" asking me for the user name and password. No matter how many times
I click OK the window keeps popping up.

If I click on Hotmail in the Mail Folder it'll try to access the server and
I'll get the error window headed "Outlook Send/Receive Progress" which says:
Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error
(0x800CCC32) : 'Access to the account was denied. Verify that your name and
password are correct. The server responded 'Invalid login'.'

The closest I've come to a resolution on the Microsoft support site is
article 823578 which describes how to correct the error 0x800CCC32 although
the account is MSN, not Hotmail. None-the-less I did the remedy as
prescribed but nothing changed. I've searched and searched for a solution
but haven't found one.

P.S. it works fine on my desktop (accesses the Hotmail folders along with
my other email accounts) and I've compared all the firewall & cookies
settings I could think of and they're the same. I just can't figure it out.

The error is related to the incorrect password (authentication) information.
However there is an KB article related to this as well if using IE7.

I have tried both of those and still have the problem. I have 2 other
machines with Outlook 2003 and it works fine on them both.- Hide quoted text -

I re-created my local windows profile and it works now...What a pain.
