Is there a difference between these (2) .pst files? I imported a 2003 file
into a 2003 small businees file (to bring my 2 worlds/pc's together) and now
when I try to open the file with the 2003 I get an incompatable error.

Try moving the original PST to the other machine and opening it instead of
importing. Never import from or export to a PST. There's never any need
and you lose data.

I moved the 2003 .pst to an external HD. Took the HD to my 2003 Small
Business machine and imported the 2003 .pst file from the External HD into my
small business 2003 .pst file on my Small business 2003 machine (combine the
two files). Then moved the combined small business 2003 .pst to the external
HD. My small business 2003 Outlook opens and works with the compiled .pst on
the external HD just fine, but when I take the external HD back to the 2003
machine (without small business) , i get an error that has something to do
with incomatable information service (I'm not at that machine right now, I
can't give you the exact error). Might this have something to do with .net?

Are you using Outlook with BCM on the second machine? I have no experience
with that, but I can imaging there may be structures added to the PST by BCM
that aren't familiar to Outlook without BCM someone else will have to say.

However, if you want to combine PSTs, don't import. Open the second PST,
open each folder in that PST, select all the data, then copy that selection
to the destination folder in the first PST. This preserves everything. You
may get duplicates, but you won't lose data or connections between items in
different folders.
