Outlook 2003 Add to Outlook Contacts freezes outlook

My client cannot add a contact by the method of:

Being in a message
clicking on the From name
Right Clicking and selecting "Add to Outlook Contacts"
and then saving the contact.

If he does the contact is saved and Outlook Freezes.

I have tried the following:
scanpst
creating new profile and importing the old pst
creating brand new profile, placing an email in it and adding it to a brand
new contacts list the above way.

All of the above still fails.

So, I uninstalled Office 2003 Standard and then Re-installed.
Still the same problem. Now I did not go remove all of the registry entries
for Office and or the files that would be left over from the uninstall.

I discovered some anomolies with his Outlook that I have never seen before
and they are:

1) Under his personal folders no Calendar or Contacts folder appears
2) After I add via the Navigation Pane options the Contacts folder and I
click on it this is what I see...
many Contact lists under My Contacts, they are labeled Contacts, web
response, contacts(2), Contacts, web response, Contacts (backup), web
response (backup), web response. If I look at them the first contacts has
the most entries say around 1500+ and the other contact folders have around
1100. On a test profile I removed all but the one Contacts folder and the
problem still occurs.

Never import a PST. Next time, repair the PST file then create a new profile
and open it.
