Hello Everyone.

Happy New Year!!!!

I am attempting to move my emails, address book, calendar, and to do lists
from Outlook 2002 running on my old XP PC to my new Vista Windows Mail PC.

Boy, this seems to be way easier said than done!

I have run Windows Transfer with the handy cable, which transferred
EVERYTHING and then uninstalled all of that stuff, then Windows Easy Transfer
Companion, but that was unsuccessful.

I am now just trying to move the files or import/export them.

I have poured over the knowledge base articles, but can only find
instructions on how to move Outlook Express and not just plain Outlook. So
far it has not worked.

I did manage to move my internet explorer favorites, but can't seem to get
the email, calandar, address book, and to dos transfered over to my new (6
month old lap top.) I need to have my email folders and archives.

Any help you could give would be VERY much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Transferring from Outlook to Windows Mail requires extra work.
You have two choices of how to do it: 1. Install Outlook under
Vista so Windows Mail can use part of it to help understand the
..pst file, then import the .pst file. Versions 2003 will work; version
2002 has a few problems under Vista but may work for this.
2. Transfer the messages from Outlook to Outlook Express on
the old machine, then do a transfer from Outlook Express to
Windows Mail.

The files often come across as readonly files. These need to be changed
to read-write files to import properly.
