Outlook 2002 hangs on start up

Would appreciate any suggestions.

I run Outlook 2002 on XP. Over the last few days 80% of the time Outlook
hangs when I try to start it - whether via a desktop short or the start menu.
On the odd occasion it will prompt me to start it in safe mode, which I do -
most of the time this hangs as well. If I get in using safe mode I am not
sure what it is I need to fix. This started Outlook created a new (default)
profile for itself and I switched back to my current profile. I have tried to
run the scanpst.exe file but says the file can't be found.

Please help.

I have had the 'start in safe mode too' - I am beginning to wonder if
it is the fault of one of the upgrades now.

If no better suggestions arrive, I think maybe I will uninstall and
re-install and not use any updates. Lot of bother though.

I wonder if it had something to do with Outlook creating a new profile - but
I am not sure could have caused it. Interesting that once I did get an error
message that an itunes upgrade was causing a problem.

I have the feeling it is something within the system, maybe the
updates, but probably they are only interested in the 2007 people now.
I see an MVP answered a whole bunch of posts but passed us by :(

I download podcasts to a Sandisk, but that started long before any
problem with Outlook. I simply get the opening in safe mode and
programme not responding.
