Outlook 2002 Email Account Problems

T

T. Jenkins

I'm running Outlook 2002 on a Windows Vista laptop. I'm having some trouble
removing old email accounts from the folder list in Outlook. I had added a
couple of Hotmail accounts a while back, but later removed them, but for some
reason, they still show up in the folder list. There is only one email
account listed when I open the email accounts window (i.e., change accounts),
but there are 5-6 separate accounts showing up in my folder list.

When I try to close these old accounts (e.g., right click, and select
close), I get a couple of different error messages: (1) "This group of
folders is associated with a mail account. To remove it use the "email
accounts" command on the Tools menu." and (2) "The operation failed. An
object could not be found."

I'm guessing I need to provide more information to help troubleshoot this,
so please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks in advance for the
help.

First of all, Outlook has password issues when run on Vista, you might want
to consider upgrading Outlook to 2003 or later to eliminate this Vista
compatibility issue. As to the multiple ghost folders, see it this helps:
