Outlook 2002 and the nickname cache

K

K. Adams

Greetings,

Whenever a user is moved from one server to the other, I
invariably wind up with users whose nickname cache
contains the old address. I've seen the articles on how
to reset the cache or delete the NK2 files, etc.

Is this just the state of things with regard to the
autocompletion feature, or is there something else that i
can do to alleviate this?

Yes, since the autocompletion cache has nothing whatsoever to do with the
Contacts folder or GAL.

I'm not certain that this will help you, but we developed a program that
might be helpful. It will let you open an NK2 file. Once open, I'd suggest
that you export the contents of the user's NK2 file and import this
information into a GAL. The product is called Owtlook and comes in two
versions, one that you would install on each user's desktop and let them
manage their own autocomplete data, and the other, is a version that you
would install on a server and will give you the ability to open any NK2 file
on the system. You can download a demo at www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm

If you have any more questions about these files, we'll try to help. You
can write us at the "sales" account for the above reference domain.
