Outlook 2000 setup in Windows XP

Michael

I have used MS Office 2000 Premium with Windows 98 and
Outlook 2000 as my default email program. I recently
upgraded to Windows XP and Outlook Express became my
default email program.

I have tried to reset the default to Outlook 2000 but I
can't. Will Outlook 2000 work under XP?

Yes it will work with XP. Run a repair install for Outlook from the Office
or Outlook CD.

Give this a try, it should make the Outlook your default. You also may
want to try changing the ISP info in the Outlook Express.

Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar
On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Other.
Under General, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail,
Contacts, and Calendar check box.

Sharon:

I updated Outlook; Converters and Filters; and Office
Tools. I tried to launch Outlook and now I get the error
message "Cannot start MS Outlook. A required component
is missing; OMI9.DLL. Please install MS Outlook again".
I did install MS Outlook again and I get the same message.

Before the problem surfaced Outlook Express WAS NOT my
default email program. I used all of the settings I had
used under Win 98 as directed by my ISP - ATT.

Any ideas?

Did you update or repair? An update would only update files and not
necessarily fix existing problems. A repair install is what I suggested
since the original installation was not registering as an available default
email program.
