outlook 2000 delays

Recently set up a new XP machine with Outlook 2000 using an exchange
server. I've come across and odd problem. If I leave Outlook
minimized, it doesn't seem to know when I receive new mail. It isn't
until I restore Outlook and click on an old mail message or a mail
folder that Outlook receives my new mail. I click on an old mail
message and all of a sudden 10 new messages appear, some that were sent
20 minutes ago.

This also happens when sending mail. I type the message, hit send, and
then it sits in my outbox. It isn't until I click on an old email that
the message actually gets sent.

Any suggestions? I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
Thanks.

Check your firewall settings and make sure it doesn't block UDP packets from
your server.

I don't think it is the firewall. This exchange server services about
500 different users, and there are only two of us experiencing this
issue. Thanks for the input though.
