I have a document that appears fine. When I e-mail it to certain people or
put it on Sharepoint, the outline numbers do not display and the headings do
not display. I don't understand what it could be. One user has no problem
viewing this on the PC or in Sharepoint. Is there a setting that should be
changed?

outline numbering: Word's "pièce de résistance" indeed. :-)

The outline is set up correctly. That isn't the problem. The problem is when
it is sent to another user, and they open it on their machine, they see not
outline number or headings.

If the numbering is set up correctly and linked to styles, it should not
change when the document is opened on another machine.

It is set up correctly. It displays fine on certain machines, but not on
others.

If it doesn't display correctly on all machines, then *something* is not set
up correctly.

barring font issues (i.e., your bullets are using a font only installed
on some machines and not on others, or the font file on some machines
are different then on others) --> see Suzanne's answer (IOW: the outline
is _not_ correctly setup).

How do you setup the Outline Numbering correctly. I just opened one of my own
documents and the numbering font is now some French font. Where do I find
step by step instruction for setting up a simple Outline Numbering scheam.

Thanks!
