outgoing email

Emails use to work. Now I keep getting the message below when trying to send:
Incoming mail works fine. Any ideas? I'm running vista and using windows
mail. All server details are correct!

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'postal
address', Account: 'mail.westnet.com.au', Server: 'mail.westnet.com.au',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 <[email protected]>: Recipient
address rejected: Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Are you physically connected to westnet.com.au when you get this error?
Normally, this sort of error is the result of attempting to use an SMTP
server owned by an Internet Service Provider that you are not physically
connected to; for example, you're at an airport or a hotel away from home.
and attempting to send an email through the ISP you use when at home - you
will almost always get a 550 type error if you attempt this.

I checked that email address, and it is valid.
Was your Internet connection being obtained from westnet.com.au when
you got that error message, or were you sending from a laptop away from home?

Did you get an answer to your problem because i am having the same problem
but only to certain outgoing addresses.

You fix the problem by always using the SMTP server owned by the ISP you're
physically connected to, or you talk to the ISP whose SMTP server you want
to use and inquire if he has some special SMTP setup that will allow you to
use his server when not connected to him. In this case if you're connected
to burnett.net.au, but want to use the SMTP server of your ISP who happens
to be westnet.com.au, you either need to use burnett.net.au's SMTP server
instead (because you're physically connected to them) or ask westnet.com.au
if they have a special setup that will allow you to use their email server
when you're connected to a different ISP (I.E. burnett.net.au).

Don't assume that your problem is identical to someone else's.
If you want custom help, right-click on your error message, copy, then
paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without that complete error message.
