Out of resources

We have a Laserjet 5simx on our network and when I try to
access the properties box an error comes up saying that
the resources are too low and that there is not enough
memory. I've tried restarting the printer service and
turning the printer off for 15 seconds to flush the
memory but that didn't work. My computer has a gig of
ram and 1.5 gigs of page file--so I know it has enough
memory. I have been able to access the properties box in
the past. What could be causing this?

Hard to say. Can you install a queue with a new printer driver on your
machine? Use the add printer wizard, select lpt1:, any driver you want and
install a queue. Can you bring up the properties for that new queue?

"We have a Laserjet 5simx on our network" What exactly do you mean? Is the
device on the network, meaning it has a network card? What printer port are
you using for this device? Standard TCP/IP port?

These problems may occur if the default local port monitor is changed by a
third-party program.
