Out of range error message when start XP home

That's your monitor telling you that it's not receiving a usable signal
from the computer.

Boot into VGA Mode and then set the display (resolution, refresh
rate, and/or number of colors) to something that your display can
handle. Consult its manual to determine acceptable settings. Reboot one
more time, into normal mode.

Actually, Safe Mode won't work. The display settings can't be adjusted
in Safe Mode. The OP will have to use VGA Mode.

Well, you're quite correct, after all. I've just confirmed the same.
Funny, I could have sworn that the display settings weren't available in
Safe Mode. Maybe I'm thinking of Win2K.
